BUCK - Eventbrite

March saw the unveiling of a complete identity overhaul for well-known events platform, Eventbrite.

Teaming up with the talented minds at BUCK, Eventbrite’s new identity embodies the platform’s renewed mission to “bring people together through live experiences.”

Eventbrite’s new logo, aptly named “The Path”, highlights “the journey from discovery to memory-making”. BUCK’s efforts here give the logo new life, repositioning it from a ticket sales platform to a place where communities gather and thrive.

The logo is flexible, giving it a malleable playfulness that Eventbrite can leverage across a huge number of variations, extending its branding far beyond its original orange palette.

The logo is brought to life through motion, which the studio says creates “a forward sense of momentum,” which is meant to encapsulate “the dynamism of real-life experiences”.

The new, more universal and adaptable look creates a more inviting vibe to help “reflect the electric nature of live events, while being flexible enough to adapt to any experience that Eventbrite has to offer.”

New logo and font aside, the brand has also embraced novel and bright illustrations across its platform.

For an events provider that’s about bringing people together and building communities, BUCK has done an amazing job at bringing this messaging to life.

Whether it’s a Viennese Waltz dance class, a foraging experience or a murder mystery drag brunch, Eventbrite's new look establishes itself as the go-to hub for discovering and hosting unique events.

Not to Scale - The Famous Five, GWR A Thrilling Engagement

The teams at adam&eveDDB and Not To Scale have partnered up again to bring another instalment to their beloved series for GWR, ‘The Famous Five’, debuting another beautiful short animation.

Directed by BAFTA Award-winning Peter Baynton, this episode follows the team as they seek to return a missing engagement ring before it’s too late. The detail and charm of the films captures the viewer from start to finish as they are taken on the short yet exciting 60s journey.

The animation is lovingly crafted with a beautiful blend of both 2D and 3D animation styles, bringing a strikingly unique and encapsulating world to life. The team created a style that feels like you’re diving right into a beautiful painting, paying an excellent tribute to the original work of Eileen Soper.

Industry News

Dribbble change in TOS

Dribbble made the controversial decision to change its TOS this month, restricting users from sharing contact details and taking payments for projects outside of the platform.

Dribbble stated this was to “protect both parties and mediate any issues during the course of the project.”, though many designers see this gatekeeping of contact details as restrictive, with one user, Richard de Ruijter, citing it as “a stranglehold to us all that will benefit none of us.”

Whether or not Dribbble will stick to their guns on this, only time will tell. Though, the announcement itself has been shrouded in negative comments from its users and is a clear blow to the trust of the platform, with many designers opting to cancel their Pro subscriptions.

It feels like a step back for a platform that has prided itself on building a community. Announcing such an update out of the blue with no forewarnings or dialogue with its community goes against this ethos.

Studio Updates

We’re currently working on a very exciting project that’s heavily under wraps for the next month. What we can divulge is that it involves some cool 3D product render shots mixed with other 3D assets and kinetic type design. We’re very excited to share once it’s live!

Our team will be travelling to a lot of events this year. You’ll be able to catch us at D&AD in London, Cannes Lions and Paradigms in Marrakesh this year.

Jack and Jimmy are also off to Hamburg to visit the Hyperfocus team. Keep your eyes peeled for an episode of The Brand Review on motion branding, where we will be joining Jan and Paul to share some of our favourite projects and insights.

We also wrapped up a really fun employee communications project with the amazing team at Symphony Talent. You can see some BTS pictures from the shoot below.
